What to Look for in a Contractor
A good contractor will thoroughly inspect your roof and then explain his findings. The inspection should include anything that could cause leaks or cause a fire hazard. Insist on a written contract that has detailed specs and insist on quality materials.
Be sure to get at least the state minimum 1 year guarantee on the work. All Season offers a 5 year warranty. Get good workmanship. The contractor should be willing to warranty their work, and should specifically tell you if they intend to sub-contract out the work. If that is the case, the contractor should be willing to certify that the sub-contractor is qualified Insist on quality installation or repair.
Ask whether the roof will be installed via hand nailing v. using a nail gun. Ask if they solder their metal work and flashing or attempt to use caulking. Always deal with a reliable company that has recent references. Request proof that the company has liability and workers’ compensation insurance.
